Social deals is a growing trend that all businesses should add to their internet marketing campaigns. If you’ve not considered this trend to help you grow your business, I highly recommend you make it a part of your marketing plans today.

Tips for Offering Social Deals

Do the math first. Before you go public with any deal, take the time to figure out if you’ll actually profit from the deal. In order to attract the consumer/client, you have to offer a savings of at least 50%, and that’s why you need to do some brainstorming first. You want to earn a return on your investment not lose money.

Consider advertising your deals on sites similar to Groupon. Keep in mind, Groupon is a social deal site that helps local businesses gain consumers/clients from their area. If you’re an eCommerce business and want to reach nationwide shoppers, sites like Groupon can help you sell your deal to consumers who shop online. Two of those sites are Deal Pulp and Deal Pop.

Cut out the middleman. Rather than using the middleman to sell your group deal, keep all your profits by selling the minimum amount of vouchers, coupons or certificates through your own website. Once you’ve placed the group deal on your website, spread the word to your social media friends/followers.

Launch a text messaging campaign. Follow the Mobile Marketing’s Codes of Conduct to build a list of consumers /clients who would like to receive your exclusive deals via text.

Share your blessings. Donate a portion or 100% of the profits from a group social deal to charity. Be sure the deal mentions you’ll donate to X charity. This generosity could get your business recognized, and that leads to radio interviews, feature articles written about you or your business and possibly TV mentions, which is all a form of free advertising that leads to an increase in sales.

Encourage your customers/clients to share the product(s)/service(s) their buying from you with their social networking friends. Offer them an instant freebie or discount as soon as they click the “Checkout” button. Let them know they’ll get the offer regardless of whether their friends make a purchase.

I must give credit where it’s due, so I’ll let you know that this idea came from Mikal Belicove’s article over at Entrepreneur. To find out more on how it works and just how profitable it can be for your business, read his article entitled A New Twist on Offering Savings Through Social Media.
