How Can This Benefit You?
Well there are many benefits to having real time stats but one they mention is analysing social media impact as it happens.
Being able to access the immediate impact of a social media tweet, facebook post or blog post for example will allow you to see how much traffic is driven to the site and when it tapers off, allowing you to gauge areas for improvement.
Real time stats are the best way to monitor, analyze and react to your blog or website’s traffic. It puts a wealth of information about site usage and statistics at your fingertips that you just wouldn’t have with time delay stats.

GetClicky, a full real time stats program, made the important point that it’s a SINGLE report in Google Analytics that displays real time stats BUT the rest of the program is still the same at present.
Now while this is true, and Google have a long way to go before competing with full real time stats programs, it’s silly to think that Google won’t evolve into more real time web analytics, that many have been calling out for, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s pretty quickly too!
And what about the Google’s other recent announcement, Google Analytics Premium?
The Analytics Premium version is the first paid-for Analytics service from Google aimed at big businesses in the US, UK and Canada at present.
And the costs?
What will a business have to pay for such a privilege … wait for it … $150,000 (US), £90,000 (UK) per and $150,000 CAN (Canada) per year billed in monthly increments.
What Do You Get For Your Money …
In the article announcing the new feature, Enrique Munoz Torres, Product Manager of the Google Analytics team stated these benefits:
Extra processing power – such as increased collection of data, the ability to add more custom variables and download them, unsampled reports.
Advanced analysis – the ability to test different models to pinpoint more accurate conversions.
Service and support – all day every day support, an account manager for guidance on any areas of concern.
Guarantees – service level agreements for data collection, processing and reporting
Now without trying the Premium service it’d be unfair to comment on whether or not it’s worth the amount asked, but for a such a steep annual flat fee they’d need to be offering something pretty special to blow me away.
